Soulful. Southern. Seasoned.
Kenny Floyd is a Southern-born singer/songwriter with a voice that tells stories and a stage presence that leaves an impression. His musical journey began at the age of three in Anderson, South Carolina, strumming his guitar as the beloved “Camp Fire Guitar Guy” at 4-H camps. Soon after, he lit up TV screens on the lively 80s show Kid Sizzle, hinting at the long road ahead.
Kenny first made waves in the ’90s as the frontman of Carolina pop-rock outfit Shades of Grey, cutting his teeth across the East Coast—frats, festivals, fairgrounds, and everything in between. His high-energy performances earned him opening slots for Hootie & the Blowfish, Edwin McCain, Vertical Horizon, Lifehouse, Cowboy Mouth, and more.
After Shades of Grey, he launched The Kenny Floyd Band, opening for names like Big & Rich, The Wallflowers, Rehab, and Uncle Kracker while releasing the band’s album Water—a bold blend of Southern soul and rock grit.
Floyd’s journey later took him across the pond to London, where he performed at the iconic Roadhouse Covent Garden and White Castle. Upon returning stateside, he founded the genre-blending project Ramona Drive, which led to a standout performance at the 2003 Grave Diggers Ball alongside Thriving Ivory and a then-rising Katy Perry.
Today, Kenny Floyd brings that same heart and heat to every performance, whether he’s stateside in Ohio or barefoot in the sand, playing shows in St. Thomas and St. John. His distinct blend of acoustic soul and island rhythm—what he calls “Island Country”—connects deeply with both locals and visitors, giving voice to the laid-back, heartfelt soundtrack of his life.
With a rich catalog of originals and a passion that hasn’t faded, Kenny Floyd is still one of the music industry’s best-kept secrets. Authentic, relatable, and always entertaining—this is music you can feel.
